ABOUT LIVE BEETLEJUICE in BEETLE BRIDE:
So, anyway.... in my take on the Beetlejuice story I figure that he was ALWAYS a troublemaker. It wasn't anything he picked up when he died. That just made it more convenient. I also believe he was a womanizer, a jerk, and well... just about everything he is when he's dead...just less rotty.

Was discussing where he might have "originated" with my boyfriend and I think we settled on German. YES, I know Beetlejuice exibited no signs of BEING German. But just bear with me....

We primarily thought of this because of the name Betelguese. Though the original name is a bastardized version of the Arabic name for the star, we thought "Guese" sounded very much like the german word "Geist" which, conveniently, means spirit or ghost. While he was alive, I decided that BJ's original last name was "Geist" (haven't decided on a first name yet). As he lived/died he probably altered his name for multiple reasons, still to be determined.

I also believe he was a nobleman of some sort. Because I feel like it.

I'm honestly having a blast conjuring up this background for BJ, though I know there are purists who will disagree/hate it, whatever they like. But this is my interpretation, so go me.

I get this kick out of thinking of BJ speaking in German, though...
